On Sunday September 13th, the Yonkers chapter of the YWCA held its annual Celebrity Chef Cook-off. The event took place at the Polish Center in Yonkers where 90 local businessmen and community advocates gathered to show off their cooking skills for the events attendees.
Participants were required to cook a dish that would be tasted by those attending the event, who would later select a winner for appetizer, entrée, and dessert. Although I am not much of a chef, I decided to take part in the event and chose to present the only dish I cook that is edible and tastes relatively good; chicken parmigiana.
Although I did not place in the competition, I enjoyed the event and spending time with family who came to along for support. I also enjoyed the opportunity to help raise money for the Yonker’s YWCA and their mission to help the women and children of Yonkers through programs and community outreach.
